Milton, Massachusetts Public Library Tour

http://www.MiltonLibrary.org - In 1870, Milton voted to form a public library with public funds matched by private moneys. Various “Reading” rooms were rented until the Central building was opened in 1904 on land bought by 26 citizens and donated to the town. In 1958, a two-story addition was added to house Children and Young Adult collections. And today you will see a reconstruction project that cost over $13 Million dollars.

With the help of Library Director, Phil McNulty the library qualified for a state grant to help pay for the renovations along with donations made to the Milton Library Foundation and the rest was paid for by the Milton tax payers who voted 3 to 1 back in 2005 to see the renovation happen. The “new” library is roughly 50,000 square feet with 32 computers, a children’s and young adult section, and two renovated reading rooms with gas fireplaces.
The Milton Public Library goal is to promote the love of reading, to make accessible the diversity of human culture and learning, to be a resource for the community's research and information needs and to do all of this in a way that returns value for the community's investment. Milton residents may obtain a free library card good at all public libraries in the Old Colony Library Network by showing identification with a full name and current address.

There are two rooms available to book:

Conference Room: This room holds up to 16 people at tables set up in an open square.
Keyes Community Room : This room holds up to 100 with auditorium style seating, fewer when tables are used.

Winchester, Massachusetts Community Tour

Winchester, Massachusetts has developed from its colonial village beginnings into a thriving residential community noted for its fine public school system, beautiful homes and easy access to Boston.

A Victorian suburb at its loveliest, the center of town is a collection of small shops and businesses that attract local residents to shop and dine and gather. Located on the banks of the Aberjona River, the center is surrounded by landmark Victorian buildings such as the Town Hall. Brick walkways and lanterns lead to a Town Common which is quintessential New England. The Victorian village of Winchester has many wonderful turn of the century architectural buildings within a short walk to the Town Center.

The MBTA commuter rail to Boston runs through Winchester and is a short ten minute ride to the city.

Winchester has some of the top elementary schools in the state as well.

Many of the most prestigious homes that have been built in Winchester reside close to the Mystic Lakes. From the terraced lawns of Everett Avenue to the privacy and beauty of Myopia Hill with views of the Lake and Boston, the Mystic Lakes are a town treasure.

The Town of Winchester is fortunate to be surrounded by one of the most magnificent reservations around. With miles and miles of walking and biking trails, it's a pleasure to watch the seasons change over the reservoir.
