Video of 16 Pleasant Street | Woodstock, Vermont real estate & homes

http://www.WoodstockProperties.com - Welcome to 16 Pleasant Street in picturesque Woodstock, Vermont.

This historic house is in the heart of the Village within a short walk to shopping, restaurants, the Town Hall Theater and the Woodstock Inn with its new state of the art Spa and golf course just a few minutes away.  The house was built in the early 1830’s and in 2009 was carefully and completely restored by the current owner/builder providing modern amenities while retaining the authenticity of the original home.

The grounds are simply landscaped with low maintenance in mind, achieving lovely colors throughout the seasons - and privacy where needed. The walkway leading up to the front door has been relaid with the original bricks.

The Carriage House was moved to its present location to accommodate 4 contemporary garages in the main house.  The interior is in its original condition.  The walls are bead board which have a lovely patina.  There are two additional garage bays below the two story carriage house.  This building is ideal for guest accommodations as well as party barn!

All exterior walls have been built with stones salvaged from the restoration.

The front patio off the mudroom is very private and quite--a perfect, sunny spot for an early morning cup of coffee along with the newspaper.

The front door leads into the original section of the house.  Bannister and railings are original and have been restored.  The hemlock floors are original.  The owners have salvaged, restored and reused the two mantels, doors, hardware and trim where appropriate.  New moldings and chair rails have been added to enhance the character of the living room and hallways. There is a state of the art audio/visual system throughout. An inherent charm of this house is the way the light moves from morning to afternoon.

The owners chose an open floor plan for the kitchen and dining room as they enjoy entertaining informally.  Most dinners are served buffet style which is enhanced by the warming drawer.  Flooring in this area is Jerusalem Gold limestone and the green granite is Costa Smeralda from the Middle East.  The  kitchen appliances are state of the art and would please a range of cooking skills.  The wet bar includes an ice maker, fridge and wine cooler along with a copper sink.  The heat is radiant as it is throughout the home.

The covered porch was rebuilt and placed to provide sun and privacy.  The bricks are old although not from the original house.  This is an ideal place for lunch as well as an evening cocktail while listening to
the Kedron Brook run by.

In the mudroom there is a walk in pantry with an extra refrigerator, sink and dish washer.  There is also access to the elevator which is wired and can be readied to service three levels. The two upper heated garages are also off the mudroom

The “breakfast room” is in the original section and is ready for a gas fired insert.  This is a lovely sunny room in the morning and cozy in the evenings where the owners most often dine and watch TV.

The second floor guest bedroom is spacious with a private bathroom.  The door to the bathroom is an original door with beautiful etched glass and hardware

There are two additional bedrooms on the third floor.  The half eyebrow windows in the front bedroom add to the charm of this guest room.  Each bedroom has a window seat to perhaps curl up and read on a snowy day. They share a bathroom which has whimsical fish tiles in the spacious shower.

The master suite is located on the second floor.  During the winter months there is a view of the Congregational Church steeple and above that the Mt. Tom star at Christmas time and the cross during Easter. The hallway to the back stairs accommodates the spacious master bath with a large walk in shower and deep soaking tub, two large walk in closets, a laundry room with a linen closet and an office.  Just before reaching the stairs is  the elevator.

The back stairs lead down to the mudroom where access to the lower floor is located.

On the lower floor the owners are in the process of finishing what can be a simple playroom or a state of the art Home Theater with the addition of a few amenities.  There is a wet bar and a powder room along with access to the elevator.  The remaining two heated garages are on this level.
