Video of 982 Washington Rd | Rye, New Hampshire real estate & homes

http://www.MaddenRE.com - Rye, New Hampshire, a small town of just over 5,000 residents is located on New Hampshire's seacoast, and is known for its elegant oceanfront estates, impeccable neighborhoods, and the tranquility of the area. In 1614, Captain John Smith proclaimed this area as an earthly paradise.
Residents of this prosperous residential community work diligently to preserve its natural beauty. Adding to the beauty of Rye's eight miles of coastline is the view of the Isle of Shoals, a historic island just off shore. A State Park offers seaside nature trails, picnic areas, and a marine science center for all to enjoy.
This expansive estate, located at 982 Washington Road marries19th century grace and 21st century technology...

The barn arrived first, in 1767.    The main house was built in about 1843, according to town records.  It has been said that windows are the eyes of the house .  These custom windows were skillfully reproduced by local craftsman Joe Tucker, made to look like the originals - including antique glass imported from Germany.

While the previous owner worked extremely hard at maintaining historical accuracy in the front of the home, the back is anything but - the goal was to maximize the views of acres of orchards, the kidney-shaped pool area and terraced lawns, and bring in the natural sun light, taking advantage of the southern exposure.

Modern conveniences abound… the house is wired with sound and internet; there are three fireplaces that are all in good working order.

The living room opens to a private patio that also connects to the kitchen.

The chef in the family will surely appreciate this gourmet kitchen - chock full of the high end appliances you would expect to find in a home of this calibre, such as a wine refrigerator, a 6-burner commercial cook top and sub-Zero refrigerator.

The floors throughout the house are wide pine, stained in a rich pumpkin color.

Completing the downstairs is the exercise room, complete with a sauna, hot tub and full bath.

The hospitality of this home continues on to the second level, where you find four bedrooms, 2 boasting working fireplaces, perfect for those crisp New England winters.

The elegant master bathroom is like your own private spa….  and the bedroom takes full advantage of the orchard views and southern exposure with a rounded balcony.

The air-conditioned pool house, it has been said, once served as the sheep birthing shed, and has since been turned into a cathedral-ceilinged living room, complete with mini-kitchen and bath.  The floors are tumbled marble and the walls a rich mahogany raised panel walls.

Nestled far back in the apple orchard, appearing as though it has always been there, is a state of the art traditionally built guest barn that matches the style of the original barn from the main house.

This barn has two floor to ceiling mahogany doors - large enough to allow a tractor to enter.

The guest barn has the wide pine floors that match the main house and there is a mahogany-paneled fully equipped gym where windows abound, maximizing views of the orchard.   There is a guest suite on the upper level with a kitchen and full bath.

The horse barn has retained its original charm and purpose, with three stalls ready for your horses.  In the rear of the barn there is additional finished living space with a 1/2 bath.

A unique property in a most desirable location.  Welcome home!
