8 Parker Street is located a stone’s throw from the Newbury Upper Green.  The Upper Green was once used as a training ground for the military, but is now better known as a town common, with a duck pond that doubles as a skating pond in the winter for young and old alike, a baseball field for little leaguers, the venue for the fireman’s muster during Yankee Homecoming events and is even home of the Annual Tree Lighting for the Town of Newbury’s own Christmas Tree.  It’s become a focal point looked upon fondly by residents and visitors alike, and the homes that border the Upper Green have become some of the most sought after addresses in the area.

The home at 8 Parker Street was originally built in 1736 and has been tastefully maintained and improved by the owners in keeping with the character of the home.

A partially fenced level yard with bricked patio area is the perfect spot for family dinners, entertaining and outdoor fun and games. The 1 car detached garage, has an exterior as attractive as the home itself and features new custom doors to match the character of the property.

Within the past few years, the home has been improved by a new cedar shingle roof, septic system, hot water heater, water filtration system, 2nd floor windows, complete kitchen and bath renovation, electrical improvements, extensive foundation work, landscaping, and so much more.

You'll immediately feel at home the minute you walk in. The gorgeous fireplace is the focal point of the living room which also boasts a wall of built-in bookcases, encouraging you to choose your favorite reading material and sit by the fire awhile.  Warm pine floors lead throughout the 1st floor.

The dining room, located adjacent to the kitchen, is the perfect place for large family dinners or cozy intimate meals.

The spacious kitchen has been renovated with custom cabinetry and outfitted with the modern conveniences today’s chefs enjoy and features Fischer & Paykel, Bosch and Amana appliances.

A 1st floor bedroom with adjacent full bath provides flexible living arrangements for those needing easy access and no stairs. A door off the bedroom leads directly to the backyard.

The 2nd floor Master Bedroom provides a beautiful and peaceful spot to retreat with cathedral ceilings and beautiful angles of the cape roofline which playfully bounce the sunlight around the walls.

An additional bedroom on the 2nd floor is also spacious and has painted pine flooring.  A full renovated bath, complete with laundry, rounds out the 2nd floor.

4 Basin Front Drive | Newbury (Plum Island), Massachusetts homes

http://www.DoloresPerson.com - A town of approximately 7000 residents, Newbury Massachusetts is located about 32 miles north-northeast of Boston. This home is located in a precinct of the town of Newbury called Plum Island.

Newbury and Plum Island have easy access to I-95, as well as US Route 1 and 1A, as well as a MBTA Commuter Rail stop in nearby Newburyport.

Welcome to 4 Basin Front Drive  a Plum Island Oasis.

Built in 1946 and totally redone over the past three years this shingle style year round home has panoramic views of the basin. This is actually one of the best locations on the island, as it is adjacent to a secluded beach.  You can swim or kayak literally right out your front door!

The owners have taken great care to maximize the stunning views with a year round a wrap around glassed in porch.

The open floor plan, along with the white on white kitchen and new maple floors give this open and airy feeling for a tranquil lifestyle. The fireplaced living room is the perfect space to enjoy the views in any season and it opens to the porch.

There are four bedrooms in this home, ,so there's plenty of room for those occasional guests.

A great home office with full bath has a separate entrance  from the outside, so this is a great work from home location.

An island located of the northeast coast of Massachusetts, Plum Island is a barrier island approximately 11 miles in length. Bordered by the mouth of the Merrimack River, Plum Island is divided between four cities and towns: Newburyport, Newbury, Rowley and Ipswich.  Once largely a summer getaway, it's increasingly becoming a year round community. Offering miles of public sandy beaches, it is also home to the pristine Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, home to 800 species of birds, plants and animals on almost 5,000 acres. The island is accessible by one road running from Newburyport.

Plum Island Drive runs along the inland side of the island.  In the refuge are numbered parking lots with boardwalks leading to the beach, overlooks and trails. At the southern end of the road is Sandy Point State Reservation, a state park.  Plum Island and it's surrounding estuaries are a popular destination for birders.  The refuge contains a wide variety of habitats including beaches, sand dunes, salt marshes, freshwater impoundments, and maritime forests. Even the non birders can enjoy the bird calls first hand by sitting on the benches in some of the thickets of the park.

The entrance to the refuge is situated less than four miles from Market Square, this historic downtown center of Newburyport.
